Symbols & The Search for Meaning

The Symbols and the Search for Meaning Group meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the Group Leader's home from 2.30 until 4 pm.

Its aim is to encourage Winchester U3a members continue to explore life’s big questions and a series of PowerPoint presentations have been prepared in order to promote lively discussion as well as personal reflection. After 8 meetings we have just completed considering the content and questions raised in the 2nd Powerpoint session and if anyone is interested in joining us, they would be made very welcome. This is what some members have said about the group:

‘This course challenges older people, with their wealth of life experiences, to discuss and seek to understand why we don’t all think the same way. The resulting discussion is very stimulating and thought-provoking.’

‘In our discussion group we travel at whatever pace suits us. Fascinating insights pop up as the conversations unravels and we begin to see what makes us tick. Every session offers food for thought, company and conviviality.’

‘We are a friendly group willing to discuss, listen and importantly share our different interpretations in the search for meaning. We've begun by considering some stage theories of human development to help us on our way.’
